Tell us about your blog.

Koody is a personal finance community and blog. My long-term vision is to help close the UK’s widening financial advice gap by educating people and providing resources to help them reach financial independence early.

Why do you write about money?

I realised from a very young age that I enjoyed writing about money. Back in secondary school, Economics was my favourite subject, and I loved writing about it. I also studied finance in university and worked in retail banking and fintech for a few years. I genuinely enjoy writing about money, and I want to help as many people as possible get better at managing their money.

How did you start blogging?

I started blogging during the first lockdown. I was home alone and bored and started thinking of productive ways to spend my time. I love writing, and creating a personal finance blog seemed like the right thing to do.

What’s your most popular post and why?

My most popular post is: How to Survive a Recession – 12 Creative Ways to Make Money Online. I think it became popular because the pandemic made many people begin to look for ways to make extra money.

What’s your favourite post you’ve written, and why?

I have two favourite posts – Compare ISA Charges (Shares) and Compare ISA Charges (Funds). I like these posts because I believe that they are useful to investors at every level. Before writing the post on creative ways to make money, these two were by far my most popular posts.

What’s your top blogging tip?

Write for your audience, not just yourself!

Why are you part of UK Money Bloggers?

I love the community – the people are friendly and helpful. I learn so much from them, and I enjoy giving back when I can.

Who are your three favourite UK Money Bloggers?

Andy Webb – Be Clever With Your Cash: I think he is honest and genuinely wants to help people.

Luke Girling – The Progression PlayBook: Also truly wants to help people manage their money.

Sejuty Chowdhury – The Subtle Investor: She’s brilliant and creative.

And now…some quickfire questions

What’s your number one money tip?

An easy way to mess up your finances is to take out a loan you cannot pay back. If you can avoid loans, especially payday loans, please do!

What is the best bargain you have ever bought?

Every time I walk out of a Poundland or a Primark store, I feel on top of the world!

What is a product / service you are happy to pay the extra for?

I am always happy to pay extra for good food.

Tell us something about yourself.

I am a self-taught software developer. I also volunteer as a software development instructor teaching young women how to code as part of a social enterprise called Code First: Girls.
